Brand Redesign, Layout Design, Website, Video Editing/Production
Problem:
The Coyote Chronicle wanted to portray itself as a more professional and refined newspaper relying on facts and hard-hitting truths instead of feel-good stories. The templated layout was full of inconsistencies in the branding and I needed to focus on centralizing everything and keeping it consistent.
Goal:
The Branding needed to consistently portray itself as a serious and refined newspaper which would be completed through a brand redesign. With the updated branding we needed to market the new look and have students feel like they can contribute to the newspaper through social media.

Process:
Having worked on the pre-established template I saw there was no consistency in place and it was styled more like a magazine focusing on using bright colors and crazy layouts to try to get attention instead of the story being the focus. I collaborated with the professor and head editor to narrow down the look that felt refined and professional. After a few rounds of edits, we finally reached a templated design that we felt better encapsulated the new voice of the Coyote Chronicle and
with the new template and a style guide in place, we could ensure consistency unlike ever before.
Another issue we had was that the newspaper did not have any reason to urge students to keep up with it and we solved this issue by having students be able to participate through a social media campaign, a new website, and a video detailing previous student experiences to grab students attention onto the newspaper.
Outcome:
The new branding made a buzz on campus as students were drawn to the chance of writing for the newspaper giving them a bigger voice in the school community. Using everything from marketing collateral to video production and an updated website helped students take a better interest in the Chronicle.

The social media marketing campaign was extremely effective as people were able to have their stories published on the Chronicle's social media page.
Impact:
The class that focused on being a writer for the Coyote Chronicle had a significant increase in student enrollment as a result the Chronicle got schoolwide attention for their new stories that students were eager to read through both the paper and on social media.
